- Running the the 6.2 mile run of my first triathlon, I thought I was surely going to die. I am a not an athlete. What the hell am I doing out here? These are crazy 'fit people'. I am not one of them. I am the girl that drives 2 blocks to the convenience store to get a Hostess pie. Just as I thought, "Screw this! I need to walk again" I looked into the crowd and saw a girl holding a sign that said 'Run Bitch Run' and I laughed. I was running AND laughing. Hmmm, maybe these are my people after all. And so I did. I ran, bitch, I ran.

I thought you had that recovery humor going! That certainly quality people get when they have hit the bottom and found a way out. Something tough as nails and yet tender and real all at once. Big congratulations on your 17th birthday! No small feat eh?

Thank you for waking up and joining us. Thank you for inspiring and challenging all of those little turkeys in your classes on a daily basis, some of whom will go on to change our world in ways we could never have imagined. And... thank you for being an inspiration to me - helping me clear away some of the fog in order to "see" that I CAN change and make a life for myself that is completely different than the one I've ever known.
