I was reading Carolina John's post this morning about the cover of this month's Runner's World:
He went on to say that this is what most people that are looking for in a man's physique.
Me? Meh. Not so much.
Now I am not saying I would throw the man out of bed for eating crackers. He is pretty and all, but when it comes to my preference of men's body styles I am more "Clydesdale" than "Elite".
Call me old fashioned, but I want a man that has the heart and body to slay the dragon, not run away from it real fast.
In my opinion that takes more than 10% body fat.
I'm just sayin'...

LOL!!!! I completely agree with you!!!!
I don't know if I could resist that unless he was a really picky eater - then he would be out.
I'm with ya! 100%
I have yet to RECEIVE this copy of Runner's World!!!
A dragon?
Seriously?
How 'bout a small lizard?
or a spider?
Damn you women a demanding. Why can't you be happy with a heart and body that could slay a beer?
on a different but slightly related topic..this reminds me that i just got my latest "women's running" magazine and there's an article about running bras and none of the women in the photos really like they are giving the bras much of a test. what is up with that?!?
hahaha. i totally agree. mostly b/c i am far from any sort of ab-definition myself and would feel too insecure! but even if i did have a 6-pack (ah to dream) i wouldn't care if my man did or not.
You freaking hilarious! He is good eye candy though :)
Well, they're good to look at but I wouldn't want (to own) one. ;)
Looks....there overrated at times!!!
Nice to look every now and then, I get some hot medical students come through all the time and it's fun!
I agree! I am more attracted to the football player then the runner...
I'm with ya sister. In no way, shape or form, do I want to possibly come close to outweighing my hubby. Not even when pregnant.
fanning self... I have to say that were I not married, this man would have a safe place with me to recover from your rejection. A place he could work those abs with an admiring audience, 'cause I would not be going anywhere. Phew. Be still my beating heart.
I'm with you. My guy must be able to pick me up and pick up other big heavy objects too when requested. I cannot stand having someone who makes me look FAT :-)
I'm with you, sister. I don't ever want a man who I outweigh, even at my heaviest, or one who can fit into my clothes. (long story, another life, different day). Moreover, I don't want someone I have to worry about "hurting." Oh, yeah - give me a nice, big clydesdale any day!
Maybe this is not news, but I'm an and/both kind of girl. I'm a fan of pretty boy flesh of both the Clydesdale and Elite varieties. But no matter what they look like, the thing that counts for me is niceness. I've totally outgrown any attraction I ever had to bad boys.
I'll take any man! What is a man???? Do they do nice things for you??
I found you from Calyx as we were talking about Tri's and Pacific Grove (which is the Tri I have my eyes on as my first). She thought you'd be a great person to go to for advice and she said great things about your blog so you're now on my google reader!
In response to your post, I completely agree. I don't want my man being skinnier than me! (Though I think my 3:28 marathoner hubby probably does have less body fat than me...eh...oh well.)

i only know what knowledge my wife imparts on me. i do what i'm told and keep my mouth shut. so if she says i should shoot for that level of athleticism and body fat, that's my new target.
i don't mean to sound whipped. it's more like there's not a challenge that scares me. so if i can defy my genetics and get those little abs again, that sounds like fun to me.
also, since i stopped being self employed, i really enjoy and appreciate having someone else set my directions for me. at work, i do what i'm told and keep my mouth shut. I pick my own races, but it's nice to be given direction sometimes.
Darn! So you're telling me I lost all of that weight for NOTHING???
