Week 7: Mama said there would be weeks like this.

Well, that didn't go so well.

It started with my unscheduled day off from both training and work. I am glad I took the day to rest and get caught up on life stuff, but I think it was the start of a downward spiral. Here is the schedule:

Monday

Scheduled: Bike 1:00 easy/Strength training class
Actual: Nada, Rest Day

Thoughts:
Hi! I am Bitchy McBitcherson from Bitchyville.
Mood: Dark

Tuesday

Scheduled/Actual: Swim Masters (1 hour, 1650 yards)/Run (easy, 43:38, 4 miles)

Thoughts:
My regular pool was closed, so I went to a different masters class. This coach let me get away with being cute to get out of working hard. I need my old, mean coach back. It was a lack luster performance at best.

Upside:the pool was MUCH cleaner than the pool I usually swim in. Downsid
e: I defiled said pool with a toenail at some point. The little sucker was a bit loose, but I thought it would hang in. Oops!

Mood: Dark

Wednesday

Scheduled/Actual: Bike (easy, 13.5 miles, 58:02)/no strength class Tri group meeting

Thoughts:
Pissing down rain. Cold, miserable, covered in mud and general road shit when I got back. I can see why you cyclists love this sport. It is awesome.

Thursday

Scheduled: Swim masters 1 hour/Run 00:50
Actual: Nada, second unscheduled rest day

Thoughts:
No excuses. Didn't get it done.
Mood: Dark

Friday

Scheduled/Actual: Rest day

Thoughts:
Yep, even after 2 UNscheduled rest days I took my scheduled rest day. You say, Loo. I say, Zer. Loo-Zer!

Mood: Dark

Saturday

Scheduled: Run 3:00 hours
Actual: Run (10 miles, 1:53)

Thoughts:
Hips and knees still sore from last weekend. I didn't think 15 miles was a good idea. Nice run
Mood: Improving

Sunday

Scheduled: Ride 5 with Cinderella Group 45 miles with climbing.
Actual: Homemade Gym Reverse Sprint Triathlon - Run (2 miles, 21:34), Bike (20 miles on hill program, 56:12), Swim (1250 yards of drills, ~ 45 minutes)

Thoughts:
The Cinderella Ride was canceled for rain. It was out biggest storm of the season and was pouring all day. I am feeling better today and decided I needed to get a decent workout in and I went to the dreaded gym. I could write a 5 page dissertation on reasons to NOT go the the gym, but I did it.
Mood: Improved, but not quite my normal sassy self.

I included the LOL cats to make this mildy interesting since it is patently not. Interesting, that is.

I had a similar week. The insomnia finally dragged me down. Well, I let it.

Small consolation: my coach told me it's okay to have an off week as long as you get right back on track. That made me feel better. :-)

Moral: Don't feel too badly about this. It happens. You still rock and ya know it!!

Kudos for still getting something done! Love the cats!
It's February, who cares about anything in February?!

I stalk the lol cats page, so I recognize many of these cats from the past week.

Every week is a new week. Just put that one behind you and look forward.

To paraphrase Judith Viorst's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Really Bad Day - some weeks are like that, even in Australia. :D (We had a rough week too btw. Whassup with that?) Hope it's better this week. I love the new charity link and your post about what you're training for (and what you're not)!

Hey, everybody has those weeks sometimes. hang in there. At least you didn't have the flu. or run a marathon in the rain.

My week sucked. I think it was a full moon or something. Next week has got to be better.

Take care.

After all that you did the previous week, I'm not surprised if this was perhaps your body's way of saying that it needed to slow down and take a break. Really, don't beat yourself up too much about it. Just keep moving ahead. This is a new week!

Ugh, I know how you feel. This long weekend, I thought I would get lots biking, swimming and running in (especially running), but all I did was a measly one mile run today before I called it quits because it felt like my legs were stuck in the mud. I just needed a break!

Geez...did EVERYONE have a sucky week? (spell check doesn't like how I've spelled sucky...how about SUCK-KEY)

If it weren't a torrential downpour here today, I'd say next week'd be better, but I'm not convinced of it today. GAH!

(PS...thanks for your sweet post on my blog this week. It's funny, but I find myself regularly wondering what you're up to during the week too...maybe because I know that you're up to your ears in kiddos and trying to balance it all in a usually insane profession, so I KNOW what your weeks are like and when you're not posting during the week, I always know why...but I wonder just the same... In any event, thanks for being your sweet-funny self...even when you have a dark week, your spin on it always makes me smile. Hang in there!)

How cool is it that we both did a gym reverse tri!! Considering I NEVER GO TO THE GYM..it's amazing. But I had to try it just to see if my fat ass self could get out there on saturday and do something I've never done before..and my arms aren't falling off today!! Woo hoo!!

Ok when I get home I'm going to find a race we can run!! I'm sure you'll be way faster than me!! And I'm going to try to get up to solvang for your century! What time does it start and when are you going? I'll be working that friday but I'll pile Velcro into the car early sat as long as I don't work until 4am sat morning!!!

i love the first cat pic, story of my life.

i enjoyed your 'breakdown' of each day and even included the mood. i was picturing the face/emoticon that comes with ones status on myspace. (no, i don't use myspace, i have one, but i never log in, lol).

i guess we both had an off-week but here's to the new week where we will hopefully not fall too far off the bus. well, your sunday was nuts. i'm pretty sure i would've quit after about 5 min on the bike.

At least you got SOME training in...

I was wishing I had new lungs all week and still continue to get coughing attacks from the plague I've had for the past 8 days.

It's the start of a new week, hopefully it's going well:)

LOL Cats get me through the day, so thanks for that.

We all have weeks like this, and you got through it, so you deserve some big-time kudos for that. And ice cream too.

At least you still got out there and trained.

It could have been worse.

YOu had an awesome week prior. Your body just needed sometime to recover.

This week, dust yourself off and do it again.

Baby steps

At least you did some stuff. So we're not perfect! Perfection is over rated. ;)

I love this post! Even with rest days you still got in a lot of workouts. I have hope that I'm on the right track to tri training.
