Girl Power!

Today on the trail for my long run I was struck by the number of women on the trail. We outnumbered the men by at least 5 to 1. It was quite awesome. There were women running solo, women running and walking in pairs, women biking alone and with their children, walking their dogs, it was quite a cool thing to be a part of.

Side note: Last week on my long run I thought I saw Willie on the trail. Obviously this couldn't be true. No way would he be in sunny California and not tell me or Southbay Girl. Well, today I had another phantom Willie sighting. I think it was the same Willie-look-alike guy. Either Willie has a twin or he is lying about being in Oklahoma. Hmm, I will have to scrutinize his pictures more carefully.

Anyhoo, back to Girl Power Day on the trail. To be honest it may always be this way, but I am usually so focused on the dogs that I don't notice the people so much (I am a dog watcher. Dogs on the trail, at the park, and on the beach make me exceedingly happy)

The run itself was great. It was one of those runs, that reminds you why we do this (and blog about it incessantly) the weather was PERFECT. I got my 57 degrees and sunny! I ran 10 miles in 1:51:01 (11:06 min/mi) and it was beautiful.

Weekly Training Summary:

Run: 20 miles
Bike: 42.3 miles

Swim: 2700 yards

Oh, I'm hoping for that weather tomorrow! Go girl power! Did you run with your tri group? Have you morphed the mean girls into nice girls yet?

Nope, solo running on this one. I don;t see the mean girls again until Tuesday for a dreaded Swim Workout. The tri group is actually a Triathlon training clinic that is four months long with a coach. Your fee pays for the group workouts and a personalized training calendar from the coach.

It was a cheaper alternative to one-on-one coaching. I am doing this to keep me motivated and training for all three sports (it is easier for me to just run) and to check out working with a coach to see if it works for me. I want to do a 1/2 IM Summer 2009 and I think I will need help getting ready.

Girl power rocks! Glad someone had some of it this weekend! For I was lacking in any kind of power! I had girl sleep power! :-)

I bet the mean girls start getting nicer to you! They had better!

I must get out today and get some sort of run in! I went herding with the girlie-and the sun is slowly setting...might be a perfect evening trail run. But I don't think it will be too long. Damnit! Oh well, I can't change the way my body feels!

I notice the dogs too when out runnning. On the Saturday long runs I see the same dogs and owners every time. I have even stopped to ask how one dog was doing after seeing him limping the week before!
Go Girl Power! My training group is mostly women. Some of them mean girls too. There are some in every crowd.
