Reluctant Brick and the Official end of summer

My quads are still mad at me about Saturday's trail run and Sunday's long ride wasn't hard, (or particularly long supposed to be 2 hours, only went 1:40) but it wasn't flat either. Picture: elevation for Sunday's bike.

Regardless, I was ready for a rest day yesterday and not particularly ready for my Bike/Run brick today.

Not ready, but I got it done.

Scheduled: 1 hour bike w/ intervals followed by 30 min run off bike
Actual Mileage: 18 mile bike w/ intervals on bike trail (1:21:01), 3 mile run easy (32:30)

I felt surprisingly good on the run. Quads and calves were tight, slight soreness in the right ankle. All attributable to the long, steep downhill on Saturday.

When is the official end of summer?

For some the end of Summer is marked by the first day the kids go back to school.

For others it is labor Day.

For me it when I have exhausted my supply of Starbuck's gift cards from the end of the previous school year.

Today, I owed 0.35 for my Grande Skinny Vanilla latte.

It's officially over. Time for mama to go back to work make some more Star "Bucks".

Yay! I'm first...

Oh...I'm so jealous...you get Starbucks cards? High school teachers get NA-DA...

(nice work on the bike and run!)

Wow you must get a lot of Starbucks cards. I'm kinda jealous.

Good job doing the brick -- I don't want to do a damn thing this week. :-)

All my friends seem to be doing runs or bikes with profiles that look like breasts these days. What gives?

PS: I'm jealous too. Math teachers don't get starbucks cards. I was lucky not to get stuff carved into the desks in May.

I'm jealous too...Starbucks is officially not in my budget anymore, so I'm in desperate NEED of some gift cards!

Ha, that's a funny way to mark the end of Summer. Good job on the bike/run! Do you know about ice water baths? I swear by them after hard run workouts, esp. downhills, which are the worst on quads.

Nice job on getting the workout done.

Summer went by really quickly, didn't it?

Way to get the brick done!

I know how hard it is to get moving after a long hard weekend (I would definitely say you had a long hard weekend too).

When you finally get a day off, enjoy it! You earned it.

Donna has at least one Starbucks giftcard left but she's been in team and grade level meetings all day, so I'm pretty sure she feels like summer is way over. (For me summer's over when NFL pre-season is over. :D )
Yay you on the bike and run!

Great Blog!

I give all the teachers starbucks cards at the end of the year....I hope they like them as much as you do. Although, I think they would prefer booze after having my kids.

Nice job on the workout.
