Easy Sunday Run/New Run Friend

Today I had a run with my triathlon clinic group. I think I actually made a friend. Until this point no one seemed to even remember my name from clinic to clinic. Today I had an actual conversation and a beautiful, easy trail run with one of the girls. She even emailed me about a possible marathon we could do and suggested we could meet up for long runs. Cool. (The marathon is the Bizz Johnson Trail Marathon, I put it on the schedule and am going to go for sub 5 hours. Check out the course profile) I am trying not to get too excited, but it would be nice to have someone to run with again. Even if only once in a while. We ran 6.5 miles with a 3.5 mile 500 ft climb in the beginning and a nice easy decent. Beautiful views and only two really hard sections. Nice taper run.

One week until San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon. I am getting excited!

Hey! Three cheers for having a new run buddy! I really wish I had someone to run with-alas none of my friends run except for Valley girl, and it seems super hard for her and I to get together. It really makes the long runs easier-hopefully she'll run some longer ones with you! And if you can hook up and do a marathon together-that's super cool!

Sorry your schedule is for shit and your getting pounded with work, work and more work! It sucks-but it will payoff in the long run, or at least it sounds good and motivates you to continue! Just think you are molding the minds of young adults! being the mother of a young adult I find that immensely important! teaching is such an underrated profession-especially right now in california!!! I commend you for being such a dedicated teacher!!!

I'm hoping and thinking that my son and i could come down to San Diego on saturday night-to watch the race sunday. i checked into hotels-all my hotels in the city are booked up, except in Coranado...so maybe I'll make it a much needed vacation as well. I'm thinking of taking monday off from work.....

I'm glad your excited about the marathon this sunday! You'll do great!!!!

I can't wait for us to finally meet at some point!!! Hopefully it will be this weekend! if I can't work it out.....we'll get together sometime soon!!

Keep your head up and keep smiling!!! Life is good! You're a stellar athlete!!! Rock on!!

Good for you! It's great to make new friends, especially running friends. I hope you have a great time at San Diego. I wish I could make it, I know it will be a great race.

I guess you're really busy huh? Well hang in there girl, you're obviously working for something and I hope it hold all that you dreamed it would.

Have a great marathon!
Toby caught kennel cough and has been on antibiotics. poor thing! Her cough sounded horrendous. I feel like a mommy bringing her to the vet.

I may go back to the blog, I just don't know right now.

Hey, Sistah!

Is it my imagination or do your posts sound completely different than they did a year ago? Listen to you with all the marathons and training and how your priorities have shifted (posts are more about challenges and goals than just the scale). I have a LOT to learn from you!

Miss ya,

~ Tracy

YAY for new friends!

Good luck on your upcoming marathon. Beware of those that are mostly downhill, though. They look deceptively easy but your quads will take a toll from all the pounding. I've always felt like I should have done more downhill running to train for them.

I'm glad to hear you've found a new running buddy. They are the best. I just found out my running buddy of a year and a half may very well be out of commission for marathon training. :(

But enough about me. No... more about me. I keep reading your comments about the possibility of doing an Ironman in 2009. Here's the things... 1) I have to make sure I love triathlons first; 2) I have to complete a marathon before I entertain the idea of tacking on -- oh you know -- 2 miles of swimming and 112 miles of biking in front of said marathon, and 3) well, I'm just not sure I'll be there come 2009.

That said, I'm nothing if not impressionable. Most of the hair-brained ideas that have led me down this path were someone else's before they were mine. So let's get through Danskin in July and see where I'm at :).

I envy that a trail run is considered an easy taper...

Good luck on your race!!!
